# App Store: new privacy requirements for app publishers

11 November 2020 | GDPR, IT

Starting on **8 December 2020**, anyone publishing **a new app on Apple's App Store or updating an existing app** will have to **complete and publish the App Store privacy label**.

The label, similar to the nutrition labels printed on food products in supermarkets, must **clearly and transparently list the user's personal data processed by the app and by third parties, and the purposes of the processing**.

The **information** must be **published** directly **on the store** and **made available to the user before they decide to download the app**.

Below is an example provided by Apple of how the new privacy label will look:

Developers must still provide users with **a complete, GDPR-compliant privacy policy** to be linked on the app's store page. Optionally, they may also provide a link to the so-called “**Privacy Choices**”, i.e. the section explaining to users how they can exercise their rights over their personal data and/or change their privacy preferences and consents.

For details on how to complete the privacy label, see:: <https://developer.apple.com/app-store/app-privacy-details/>
